Let's talk about the way these two beasts look. A lot of drivers are drawn to Challenger's classic retro styling that looks great even after all these years. The Mustang, with its iconic styling, is a formidable contender in its own way. With a sleek look, this muscle car is guaranteed to generate plenty of neck turns.

The Challenger has a V6 engine that performs great on the track as well as commercial highways or roads. It focuses on saving fuel but also has enough power to ensure strong acceleration when needed. Add to that the V6 Challenger's lower cost of maintenance and you will begin to understand why people love this car.

In 2018, Ford decided to discontinue the Mustang's V6 engine which was relatively efficient, powerful, and easy to maintain. Most importantly, it was inexpensive. We personally consider this a shortcoming but only time will tell. And if you wanted a muscle car but don't want a V8 engine, the Challenger is the way to go.

If fuel economy is not on the top of your list when looking for a new muscle car, rest assured. Both the Challenger and the Mustang have V8 engine models that give you that extra power and distinctive sound (three different V8 engines are available for the Challenger).

Where the new Challenger surprises a lot of people is the just how much room it has inside the cabin despite being a coupe. Even large drivers will have no trouble fitting behind the wheel. The same can't be said about the Mustang. It provides a lot less passenger room than the Dodge Challenger even though the Ford model features a backseat.

The trunk of the Challenger provides more than 16 cubic feet of storage space. If you decide to pack your bags and take a long road trip, the extra room will certainly come in handy. That's not the case with the Mustang which has a max cargo volume between 11.4 and 13.5 cubic feet.

On the subject of long trips, we should mention the infotainment system because that's what makes the ride more enjoyable. Even the least expensive Challenger gives you Dodge's top-rated Uconnect interface. By integrating your phone, you'll be able to stay connected while on the road. The base model comes equipped with the 276-watt Alpine sound system which will keep you entertained for hours. Unless, of course, you're the type that prefers the sound of the high-performing engine ripping through the streets.

Mustangs's infotainment system is not bad, either. It's voice-activated communications, entertainment and information system, SYNC ® 3 enables the drivers to stay connected while driving. Some cool features of the SYNC are the key by Amazon in-car delivery that allows Amazon Prime members to receive packages to their vehicles and Alexa integration for voice navigation and traffic information.

When it comes to safety Dodge Charger has a lot to offer - forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control, anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, brake assist, active head restraints, curtain airbags, and an ignition immobilizer being just a few of them.

Some of the safety features that stand out are Mustang's MyKey system, which allows parents to set a speed limit, forward collision warning with automatic braking, and blind-spot monitoring that helps avoid danger on the highway.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room - the price.

Yes, it's true that the Challenger costs a bit more more but more often than not you get what you pay for and in this case the new Dodge Challenger is well worth the money. Great V6 and V8 engines  make the Challenger a rewarding performance machine. A rumbling exhaust note adds to the Challenger's excitement. There's also a ton of space on the inside. And last but not least, the new Dodge Challenger has an AWD system that the Mustang does not offer. And yes, it's kind of a big deal.

In conclusion, if all you care about is the price - go with the Mustang. However, if you want power and performance the Challenger is the clear winner.
