The new Chevrolet Blazer looks good; there's no two ways about it. And while that's important, it's just one of the many things car buyers consider when making a decision, so let's take a look at what's under the hood. The new Blazer features a 193 horsepower, 2.5 L LCV naturally-aspirated inline four-cylinder engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

How does that stack up against the Dodge Durango? Actually, there's no comparison. The new Durango features a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine that can tow up to 6,200 pounds (compared to 4,500 pounds for the Blazer). The trade-off is the fuel economy. The Durango gets less miles per gallon but  that's a small price to pay.

In addition, the new Dodge Durango has more cargo space than it's competitor (85.1 cubic feet vs 64.2 cubic feet for the Blazer) and that's important for the outdoor enthusiast. Imagine all the additional cargo you can take with you that you otherwise would be forced to leave behind making the experience so much less enjoyable.

The infotainment systems of both vehicles are similar (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and USB ports come standard) but the Blazer has a bigger touch screen.

And one more thing to keep in mind when comparing Dodge Durango to Chevy Blazer. The new Chevrolet Blazer is a CUV while the Dodge Durango is an SUV. In plain English, you will have to pay a bit more for the Dodge Durango but you get a higher-class vehicle that's roomier and more fun to drive with the Durango.

In considering all of these factors, the Durango is a better deal for the money. It seats more people, has an engine that packs a greater punch, and has more overall towing capacity. The new Blazer from Chevrolet is a good vehicle, but you shouldn't settle for less
