Charger R/T vs. Scat Pack

If you're like many customers out there, you may be wondering, what's the difference between the Charger R/T and the Charger Scat Pack? The answer is actually fairly simple. The Scat pack has better performance. Both models offer a 3.0L Twin-Turbo SIXPACK engine. The R/T has the standard output engine with 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. The Scat Pack offers a high-output version, delivering 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. The Scat Pack models also have a performance transmission and 6-piston brakes vs. 2-piston brakes for the R/T. Beyond that, there are some minor differences in trim size and seat material. Overall if you are satisfied with the performance of the R/T, you probably won't need to upgrade to the Scat Pack.

Dodge Charger 2-door vs. 4-door

If you're worried about passenger space in the Charger 2-door vs. the Charger 4-door, you're in luck. There is actually no difference in size between the two models. The only real difference is how your rear passenger enters the Charger and the slight style change of 2 vs 4 doors. All performance and features remain the same throughout the Charger lineup.

While the Charger R/T may be the "base trim," it's anything but. This gas-powered lineup offers the 3.0L twin-turbo "SIXPACK SO" inline-six engine. It produces around 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, offering strong performance while getting 20 MPG combined gas mileage. This standard-output version of the Hurricane engine delivers quick turbo response and comes paired with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The base R/T is the only model that offers cloth seating and doesn't have paddle shifters. Compared to the higher trims, it's the least powerful but still a major step up from older V8 R/T models. The R/T and R/T Plus both offer the same overall performance.

The Charger Scat Pack takes things further with a high-output version of the same 3.0L twin-turbo inline-six, often called the SIXPACK HO. This is the most powerful gas charger available, with 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque, with a higher boost and more aggressive tuning. It keeps the AWD system with selectable RWD but adds significantly quicker acceleration. The brakes and suspension are upgraded for sportier track-style performance. This trim essentially replaces the old V8 Scat Pack with a more advanced, turbocharged setup. Upgrading to the Plus version of the Scat Pack adds great features but doesn't increase performance.

The Daytona Scat Pack completely changes the formula by ditching gas altogether for a fully electric dual-motor powertrain. It is actually the most powerful charger option, delivering up to 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. Instant torque and standard AWD allow it to outperform the gas models in off-the-line acceleration. Unlike the R/T and gas Scat Pack, this model uses a large battery pack instead of an engine. If you want to have all the power of a charger but not have to worry about those MPGs, this is the way to go.
