Â
Both Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey come in six main trim levels. All of these choices can be overwhelming, which is why we are going to break it down by comparing the basic trims. Chrysler has clear advantage simply because it offers better features.Â
The Pacifica and the Odyssey come equipped with a strong 6 cylinder engine and the ride is both quiet and comfortable. What puts the Pacifica ahead of the Odyssey is the rapid acceleration - the engine is able to generate 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, which is what helps get it from 0 to 60 mph in roughly 7.7 seconds.
What people love about the new Chrysler Pacifica is the Stow 'n Go seats. It seem to be one of the primary reasons minivan drivers keep buying Chrysler's minivans. They only require the push of a button to get them folded all the way into the floor of the van to maximize cargo space (40.5 ft³ with seat area). You have to come to the dealership and see for yourself just how cool this Chrysler Pacifica feature is.
Another feature that wins customers over to Chrysler is Pacifica excellent all-around visibility. Both the front and rear windshields are massive, and the roof pillars are slim in their design. The side windows are also remarkably wide, making blind spots easier to check without the help of the monitoring system.

What we like about the Honda Odyssey is the tri-zone climate control and rear entertainment system that allows passengers to stream audio and play DVDs and Blurays. Honda Odyssey CabinTalk allows the driver to speak to the third row passengers through the rear speakers and even override connected headphones.
Both car manufacturers had safety in mind when they were designing these vehicles. Chrysler Pacifica braking system is appropriately responsive when engaged and has a short travel distance for the pedal (is able to make a panic stop from 60 mph in just about 119 feet, which is considered short for this segment). Â
The Honda Odyssey will automatically brake if it senses an unavoidable collision. It will also steer the vehicle to the center of the lane or roadway. It also features adaptive cruise control, which adjusts cruising speed to match the car it is following.Â
So, what's the verdict that we came to? Hands down the Chrysler Pacifica is a better deal for the money. It has more cargo space, better towing capacity, and costs less. The Chrysler Pacifica should be the clear choice for families looking for a minivan that will keep them safe on the road.
